Janet from Spring Care who provide Personal Assistance at Home said: "Thank you so much for yesterday, I have to tell you the welcome I received and the atmosphere there was incredible, I wish we could bottle it. I so look forward to returning. I think I should be able to do it in 15 min, I can always talk faster if  needed Very best wishes".
Our monthly Tilling, Tea and Cake event was one to remember – held on an exceptionally hot morning, but that didn’t stop 24 wonderful people from joining us for 'Friendship, Fellowship and Fun'. Conversation flowed, information was shared and of course, cake was eaten!
Today - June 5th - we celebrate our 2nd birthday since FAiR was registered with the Charity Commission to provide a variety of Befriending services for all ages.
We decided to enjoy a purely social event - no invited speakers. 30 people including volunteers attended and enjoyed a couple of hours of conversation, catching up, enjoying locally baked cakes and savouries with fresh Tea and Coffee.
Feedback received confirms our intention to provide 'peer support' and 'guidance' is appreciated and helpful  . We provide a 'quiet and safe space' in a lovely bright room with a private terrace at the Community Hub on Rye Hill - part of the Rye and Winchelsea Community Hub.
Following on from the success of Tilling, Tea and Cake - our informative and social monthly event, we are starting to develop new venues in communities of rural Rother.
Our successful social and informative Tilling, Tea and cake continues to grow in popularity. There is no doubt one of them many attractions of this monthly Social opportunity is the special attention we pay to decoration of the room, the quality of the food and drink we provide - thanks to Haydens and the Cornish Bakery (both businesses in Rye) and to the warm welcome provided by Miriam our 'Meeter and Greeter'.
Our 3rd Cancer Cafe gathering was warmly appreciated by our attendees. The idea is simple, to provide a private space where our guests receive advice and peers support, knowing the conversations stay in the room.
We love to share our funding success and to acknowledge the funder.
30 guests and volunteers attended another informative and fun social 'Tilling, Tea and Cake' on Saturday February 15th. Our 'Meeter and Greeter' Miriam was back welcoming regulars and new attendees. By keeping to our informative and fun social approach, there was a wonderful energy in our specially decorated room.
Monday February 10th was the second date for our Cancer Cafe. There was a wonderful, warm and friendly energy in the room - exactly how we envisaged these monthly Cafes. Thank you again to all who attended, to the Hub on Rye Hill for hosting us and to Karen and her team for arranging refreshments and a delicious banana cake. Finally, to Annie and Rosemary volunteers for A Touch of Gentleness who provided all the attendees with relaxing hand massages.
Fast forward to January 2025 and we welcomed Jan Crook and her adorable therapy dog - 'Ted'
Our first event of 2025 was a great success due also to us welcoming many people attending the 'Swap Shop' in the main assembly hall. We decided last year, after a conversation with Mike and Dan organisers of the 'Swap Shop', to hold our events on the same day.
The Cancer Cafe launch on Monday January 13th at The Hub on Rye Hill - was confirmed a huge success with 20 people attending.
Our first fully funded year has been a triumph in so many ways. 13 months ago, we were an unknown charity.
On Monday January 13th (thereafter monthly every 2nd Monday ) we are launching a Cancer Cafe for all ages and carers in collaboration with the Hub on Rye Hill supported by Rural Rother PCN.
