Winchelsea, Tea and Cake – July’s Warm Welcome and Inspiring Talks
Our monthly Winchelsea, Tea and Cake gathering continues to blossom, offering community, conversation, and connection in the heart of Winchelsea Beach. This June, we were thrilled to welcome 31 attendees, bringing our three-month total to 96—a real reflection of how valued this friendly and informative event has become.
Janet from Spring Care who provide Personal Assistance at Home said:
“Thank you so much for yesterday, I have to tell you the welcome I received and the atmosphere there was incredible, I wish we could bottle it. I so look forward to returning. I think I should be able to do it in 15 min, I can always talk faster if needed
Very best wishes”.
The morning providing generous helpings of tea, coffee, cake, and camaraderie, alongside a trio of guest speakers who brought insight, warmth, and practical guidance:
-
Tracy from Age UK East Sussex shared important information about how to recognise and avoid scams—an increasingly relevant topic for all of us.

-
Maxine from Macmillan gave a heartfelt and informative update on the cancer support services available locally and nationally, reminding us that no one has to face cancer alone.

-
Claire from Gracious Care outlined the support her team offers to help older adults live independently and with dignity at home.

We also heard from Jan, FAiR’s Befriending Coordinator, who updated us on the exciting news that four new volunteers have come forward to begin training for our Weekly Companionship Calls—an initiative that provides much-needed connection and friendship to those feeling isolated. A huge thank you to these volunteers for stepping up and making a difference.

As always, a warm thank you goes to everyone who helped organise, attended, or contributed to the event—your presence and enthusiasm are what make these events so special.
Looking Ahead: August’s Winchelsea, Tea and Cake
We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back next month, when we’ll hear from:

As always, everyone is welcome—whether it’s your first visit or will be your fourth – Come for the company, the conversation, and of course, the cake.
