Rye Harbour, Tea and Cake launched – Our new Monthly Informative Event.

A warm and promising start to a new community tradition

Our very first Monthly Informative Event at Rye Harbour got off to a gentle and steady start, with a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged conversation, curiosity, and connection. While the morning began quietly, numbers grew as the session went on, and those who attended enjoyed a relaxed and engaging experience.

One of the most valued parts of the event was the opportunity for meaningful conversations among visitors, volunteers, and support services. These informal chats helped set the tone for what we aim to build: a friendly, informative monthly gathering for the community.

Guest Speaker – Alison from Mediation Plus

A highlight of the session was a talk from Alison at Mediation Plus, who explained the organisation’s work in helping people navigate conflict in a calm, supportive, and constructive way. Her approachable style made it easy for attendees to ask questions and learn more about what mediation can offer.

A Touch of Gentleness – Soothing Hand Massages

Adding a calming element to the morning, A Touch of Gentleness offered soothing hand massages throughout the event. This proved to be a lovely treat, giving visitors a moment to unwind and enjoy a bit of pampering.

Fresh Cakes & Savouries

No community event is complete without good refreshments, and our table of freshly made cakes and savoury bites went down a storm. The homemade feel added warmth and hospitality to the day, giving everyone something delicious to enjoy with their tea or coffee. As always, we were grateful to our volunteers for “Meeting & Greeting’, making drinks and encouraging people to enjoy the cakes and savouries provided by Haydens and the Cornish Bakery in Rye

Looking Ahead

Although this first session started slowly, the quality of conversation, contributions from partner organisations, and positive feedback suggest we’re off to a strong beginning. Each monthly event will bring new topics, new guests, and new opportunities for local residents to discover services, meet people, and enjoy a welcoming space at Rye Harbour.

We’re excited to see this develop into a much-loved monthly fixture — and we hope to welcome even more of you next time!
