Winchelsea Tea and Cake – Monthly Informative Event
Our Winchelsea Tea and Cake event was blessed with a sunny morning and a fantastic turnout from the community, creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere throughout.
Jan, our Community Coordinator, opened the session and introduced a great line-up of speakers:
- Sue Lynne, Community Frailty Practitioner, (and Hailey Nightingale, Nursing Associate)

- firstly spoke about the stigma around the word ‘Frailty’. She then shared valuable insights into the 9 different examples of identifying frailty and the support available for those with frailty needs.
- Francesca, from Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital,
-

- spoke about the plans to bring together the five pillars—Health, Care, Community, Support and Inclusivity—under one website and social media platform, inviting feedback from attendees.
- The two Nikkis from Bluebird Care

- provided an overview of the care services they offer and how they support individuals in the community.
- The lovely Izzy from A Touch of Gentleness

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers Miriam, Cecilie and Charlotte, who did a superb job meeting and greeting attendees, as well as serving drinks and a delicious selection of cakes and savouries, kindly provided by Haydens, Jempson’s and the Cornish Bakery.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to our next event on Wednesday 24th June, 10:00am – 12:00pm.
