Just to share that we now have a dedicated FAiR Volunteering Page and sigh-up form for volunteering. As that page is likely to grow and develop alongside our services, this blog includes some of the information from the page.
Why Volunteer with Us?
Friends Altogether in Rother is all about community wellbeing and engagement. Volunteering is a powerful way to make a positive impact in your community and beyond.
Why you might like to join us:
- Make a Real Difference: Your time and skills can transform lives and bring hope to those in need.
- Learn and Grow: Gain new skills, experience, and insights while contributing to meaningful projects.
- Connect and Belong: Our team of staff and volunteers is small in number but mighty in ambition to make a difference. Join a passionate community of like-minded individuals committed to making a positive change in our Rother communities.
- Boost Wellbeing: Volunteering has been shown to improve mental health, reduce stress, and provide a sense of purpose. And how wonderful is it that volunteering with FAIR can benefit the wellbeing of our volunteers, service users and wider community too?
Volunteering Opportunities
We offer a variety of volunteer roles to suit different interests and availability. Whilst you’re here, you might like to look at our other short blog about volunteering with us which includes further information about some of our key volunteering opportunities:
- Befriending Services: Provide regular companionship and support to those who feel isolated from their community.
- We’re just launching our Telephone Befriending service, which provides support through regular phone calls. This flexible and rewarding role is perfect for those who want to make a difference from the comfort of their home.
- In Spring 2025, we hope to launch our Home Visit Befriending Service. If you are hoping to get involved in Home Visit Befriending, why not get to know us, and our service users, with some telephone befriending in the meantime?
- Event Support: Help us organise and run community events, from fundraisers and awareness campaigns, to events which bring our communities and service users together, like our Tilling, Tea and Cake and our Murder Mystery Lunch.
- Administrative Assistance: Support our team with essential office tasks. Your organisational skills can help us run smoothly and efficiently.
- Specific talents for Special Projects: Use your unique talents and expertise to assist with specific projects, whether it’s marketing, IT, or something else. We welcome diverse skills and ideas.
How to Get Started
Joining us as a volunteer is simple:
Take a look at our online volunteering form. It includes a list of volunteer roles to suit a range of interests and skills, so if you find one that appeals to you, please complete the form in as much detail as you can, and we’ll get in touch.
Prefer to do this face-to-face?
- Email us anytime at volunteering@fair.org.uk to arrange a face to face chat or to request an email copy of the volunteering form.
- Or call 07386 85 33 49 to speak to our Befriending Coordinator (Tuesdays and Thursdays are best for direct contact, otherwise please leave a message).
Arrange to come along to a Volunteering at FAiR fact-finder session: join us for a volunteer orientation session to learn more about our organisation, meet the team, and decide if you’d like to join us as a volunteer. We aim to run a few of these sessions within our Tilling, Tea & Cake events, so you’ll see the impact of what we do as well as find out how we do it! We’ll have hard-copies of volunteer forms to hand which you can take away
From there, you’ll be ready to begin your volunteer journey with us with an induction and training related to your volunteer role.
