We are beyond excited to share that FAiR has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund!
This incredible news means that we can continue offering our befriending service at no cost to those who use them, ensuring we reach even more people in our community who might be struggling with loneliness and isolation.
Why does this matter? Because we know how tough life can be for those who feel isolated and disconnected from their local services and communities.
Our new Companionship Calls telephone befriending service can offer the support of a friendly chat for many older adults, whilst our Tilling, Tea and Cake community social offers health and wellness advice, guidance and support, plus community and social engagement. Thanks to this generous National Lottery Community Fund grant, we’re able to move ahead from development to delivery and keep these services going strong. And best of all, this grant will keep our services free for our community.
We can also recruit and train more volunteers, which means we’ll be able to support even more individuals across the community. Every call made, every conversation shared, is a step towards reducing loneliness and creating meaningful connections.
But it’s not just about delivering services. This grant also gives us the breathing space we need to continue to develop services, like our upcoming Cancer Cafe and Hello at Home, home visit befriending, both to launch in 2025.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund and also to everyone who buys National Lottery tickets — you’ve made a real difference! Your support helps organisations like ours make a tangible, positive impact in local communities.
Keep an eye on our social media and website for updates on how we’ll be using this funding to consolidate and grow our services, to make an even bigger difference in our community.
